Student data

This note is for the teacher or school using AIsuluu. It records what the program does with student data. It does not choose a legal ground. A lawyer in the school's country should name that ground.

Uploading homework is not consent. The student is not free to refuse, and a child is not asked to agree. The line on the upload page only explains what the photos are used for.

Who is responsible

The teacher who creates the account, or the school they work for, decides to use AIsuluu to grade homework. That teacher or school is responsible for the student data. AIsuluu stores and processes it for them.

Why

To grade the homework the teacher assigned, and to prepare feedback the teacher is responsible for. Homework and exit-ticket assignments do not email that feedback until the teacher approves it.

What is stored

  • Student name and class
  • Email, when the assignment asks for one. When all feedback goes to one teacher address, the student does not enter an email. The program then stores a stand-in address that is not a real inbox.
  • Photos of the work
  • The text read from those photos, the grade, and the feedback
  • A feedback PDF

Photos and PDFs stay on the server. New photo files are named with a random id. The student's name stays on their record, so the teacher can still see whose work it is.

Who else receives it

  • The teacher, in the dashboard
  • AIsuluu reads the handwriting and drafts the grade. The page images and the text read from them are sent to the provider for that.
  • The email address the teacher chose for feedback: the student, or one address for the whole assignment. The message can include the feedback PDF and the photos.

Other students cannot open someone else's work.

How long it is kept

Until the teacher deletes that student. Deleting a student removes their submissions, photos, and feedback files. The control is at the bottom of the student page and asks for confirmation first.

What the school still has to record

The school records the legal ground that applies where it operates. That ground is the school's duty to teach and assess, or another ground a lawyer names. It is not a checkbox on the upload form. This note does not name the ground.
